Rising Star Classes
These classes are going to give your young thespian a toolkit for their future in the performing arts. This course should help gain confidence in themselves and their performance, public speaking skills, social and emotional learning, and should just be a great chance to make friends and learn about theatre. This is a learning experience, and the instructor will be meeting your child where they are at in their theatre journey. If that is tons and tons of experience or none at all, ALL IS WELCOME! We will be going over monologues, scenes, improv, musical theatre, technical theatre, and more. At the end of this class there will be a showing of what the students learned. This class will hopefully be able to help your child grow for their bright future in theatre! Feel free to reach out with any questions.

The Milford High School Theatre Company would like to offer your child a chance to be a part of the cast of our 2024 MHS Fall Musical – HONK! We are still working out many factors (such as casting and a detailed rehearsal schedule) but we do know that we’d love to have your child participate. In order to participate, you must be registered for the fall 2024 Rising Star Class (either the 1st-5th grade group or the 6th-8th grade group). All 1st-5th graders who are in the class and choose to participate in HONK will be a froglet in an Act II production number (“Warts and All”). 6th-8th graders can participate in the Froglet number but can also choose to be a part of a few other songs/scenes. The Fall Rising Star Classes are capped at 30 participants so sign up early. You will not be able to participate in HONK if you aren’t in the class. You can register for the class and choose not to participate in HONK.
CLASS Capacity will be CAPPED at 30 students for the 1st-5th and 20 for the 6th-8th so be sure to sign up early.
The first step is to confirm you can attend the mandatory dates listed below. These dates encompass all technical and dress rehearsals and all performances (please note that the 6th-8th graders may have an additional rehearsal time and they will have a few more meetings during the entire production). Due to the large nature of the production, more than 2 absences are not allowed and no absences are allowed Nov. 11-23. After confirming dates, your next task is to sign up for the Rising Stars Fall Class. The 1st-5th grade class will run on Tuesdays from 6-6:45pm and the 6th-8th grade class will run on Tuesdays from 7:15-8:00pm. The HONK rehearsal will be in between those classes from 6:45-7:15pm. This will be the only rehearsal time from Sept. 10-Oct. 15. After that, class will be over and any students involved in HONK will move to the schedule you confirmed below. There will be a full HONK cast Parent Meeting on Wednesday, September 18th at 7:00pm in the MHS Performing Arts Center. You will receive all pertinent information and schedules, and you will be able to meet all the directors and other parents and get most of your questions answered.
I want to be sure you know that there are some costs to participate. Since you must be in the fall class in order to participate in HONK, we rolled it all together into one fee ($225). This fee will cover class, most of the costuming/props for your actor, full photo access, a cast t-shirt and the cast party. We will probably purchase most of the costume but you may be responsible for some items like underwear or simple/common clothing. If you choose to do the Class Only and NOT participate in Honk, the fee is $125 for the 6 week class.
